Rope, why we use the rope we do?

The best simple answer is that over the 18 years or more we have used it, ropes have lasted between 3 and 10 years depending on the weather is was used in and if the Sunshine Clothesline was out in the weather year round or brought inside or covered when not in use. Another reason is it is an affordable price. These two reasons together make it a good choice for outdoor clothesline usage.

The full description of the rope we use is; Polyethylene, 8 strand - 8 carrier, white filament, with “High UV” inhibitors, 3/16”, hollow braid, rope.

More reasons are; that the hollow braid construction makes a 3/16” diameter large enough to secure clothing on the rope with clothespins. Also Polyethylene rope wipes down easily and clean if you like to wipe your lines before each use. The “8 strand - 8 carrier” means that there are 64 filaments that are braided in the strong hollow braid manner. White colored filaments are used to show cleanliness.  “High UV” inhibitors are added to the polyethylene mix to add resistance to the sun’s rays this is something that is also used in the boating and other outdoor industry to lengthen the life of ropes. Hollow braid rope can be easily spliced making a slim joint which is stronger than the parent rope.
