Clothesline line spacing should be wide.

Wide line spacing for clotheslines allows sunshine to reach more areas of your clothing. The sunshine will dry your clothes faster from the heat provided by the sun and will make sheets smell great. The sun is also effective bleaching agent, especially for some organic stains, and discolored cloth diapers.

Another drying factor is the wind getting in between clothes easier due to the wider line spacing. When lines are closer together wind will make clothes touch together and then they will cling to each other not allowing the drying winds to reach more surfaces of the clothing. If it is a windy day the water is evaporated more quickly due to the air moving/passing through the wet clothes.

Sunshine Clotheslines have wide spaced lines.
